    • Poodle - Chloe - Sponsor Me! - Small - Adult - Female - Dog

Chloe is a former puppy mill dog, who has come a long way, but still has a long journey. Chloe is one of our sanctuary dogs, as she has bonded with her foster mom and her 'sister' Winnie. She likes other dogs, has grown to trust people and will willingly approach new people if she's not rushed. She does need work with potty training. She has tendencies to not let us know when she needs to go outside, and instead will seek a quiet corner, which can be typical for some retired puppy mill dogs. She's made improvements, and Chloe is proof that you CAN teach dogs of any age. She's about 7-8 years young. She rides well in the car (don't feed her for a couple hours before a ride), likes to take walks, and will curl up next to you once you've gained her trust. She's considered special needs due to her puppy mill history. You see, mill dogs are used for breeding purposes, and they're not exposed to a home environment or the joy human companionship can bring, instead, spending their time in a small wire crate is their way of life. Winnie is a senior. Chloe is learning about house training, which is something that puppy mill dogs sometimes need reinforcement and positive praise. She does want to receive human love and attention, but is uncomfortable pursuing it sometimes due to her past. She now will let you pick her up and is more relaxed. She is with one of OARS co-founders near Ironwood, MI, at Camp k-nine. If you're not in a position to adopt a canine companion, won't you please consider sponsoring her care by making a tax-deductible donation?
The requested adoption fee is $120 for sweet Chloe. While this doesn't come close to covering our expenses to provide quality food and medical care for these dogs, our goal is to help them find loving forever homes. Please keep in mind these dogs are rescues; their breed mix and birth dates are usually unknown, but with the help our our vet partners we make the best educated guess. Don't they all deserve a chance at happiness?
To begin the adoption process, please submit your downloaded, completed dog adoption application form via email to Amy, our Canine Adoptions Director, at [email removed]

Please note that all dogs in our care live with our wonderful foster home volunteers until adopted, so an adoption application is needed prior to setting up a meeting. This process has been designed to ensure that we're helping you to find a lifetime companion who will best fit your preferences, as well as a home best suited for their needs.
